What are LiFePO4 Batteries?
Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery is a type of lithium-ion battery that uses lithium-ion phosphate as the cathode and a graphic carbon as the anode. It is rechargeable and is currently the safest lithium-ion battery on the market.
Benefits of LiFePO4 batteries
- Long life cycle
Perhaps the biggest benefit of LiFePO4 batteries is their long life cycle. LiFePO4 battery's life cycle is 4-5 times that of other lithium-ion batteries and can reach 3000 cycles or more. Additionally, LiFePO4 batteries can also attain 100% depth of discharge, meaning you don’t have to worry that the battery with discharge over time if it is not used.
- They are space-efficient
LiFePO4 batteries don’t consume a lot of space as is the case with lead-acid batteries. LiFePO4 is almost 1/3 the weight of lead-acid batteries and nearly 1/2 the weight of most manganese oxide batteries. The good thing is that they save space but still deliver great performance. So, if you want to save space but you are searching for a powerful battery that delivers excellent performance, then the LiFePO4 battery is the perfect choice for you.
- Environmental friendly
Another benefit of lithium-ion batteries is that they are friendly to the environment. They are non-contaminating, non-toxic, and also don’t contain heavy metals, which make them friendly to the environment.
- High efficiency
LiFePO4 batteries have 100% of their capacity available, meaning your battery will last longer. More so, their fast charge and discharge rate makes them ideal for nearly all sorts of applications. The battery’s fast charging increases its efficiency and reduces downtime while high discharge delivers a lot of power within a short period.
- No active maintenance
LiFePO4 batteries do not require active maintenance to prolong their lifespan as is the case with other types of lithium-ion batteries. More so, this battery does have a memory effect and because of their low self-discharge rate, you can store them for a long time and they will not discharge.
